Rare American Leaflet for Japan from 1943-1944 in the shape of a leaf of an Anna Paulowna tree. You will find these trees a lot in Japan. According to a Japanese myth, the early fall of this leaf is an omen of bad luck. When the Americans found out about this, they designed this leaflet and scattered it over Japan to demoralize the Japanese.

The official translation says:
A falling Paulownia leaf is the unlucky omen of the inevitable destruction of the military power of Japan. As these leaves scatter about they do nothing but pile up sorrow and bad luck.

Before spring comes a second time, American bombs, falling like Paulownias falling from far away, will bring disaster and bad luck.

The leaflet is in fine condition, there is some damage to the stem (this often breaks), and there is also some damage at the top of the text area.
