In 1943 a resistance member threw a hand grenade at the mayor of Haarlem, and the assassination attempt failed, one day later the resistance killed the Wehrmacht soldier Alois Bamberger. As a reprisal for these attacks, the SS under the command of Rauter sent 102 civilians to the concentration camp Vught, and the SS also executed a total of 10 resistance members from Haarlem and Ijmuiden consisting of three Jewish people and 7 communists.
The poster has some repairs with acid-free tape.
