On the 19th of February 1941, German police officers went to the Jewish quarter in Amsterdam to mess with Jewish people at the ice cream parlour Koco, and an attack followed. As a reprimand, the German command ordered the deportation of 400 Dutch Jewish men between 20 to 35 years old to concentration camps. This angered Dutch (communist) workers, who as a result went on strike in the major cities of Holland. The February strike started in Amsterdam and spread to Zaandam, Utrecht, and Hilversum. This was a reaction against anti-jewish restrictions in the Netherlands by the nazis.

''Announcement of the Commissioner-General for Security, the higher S.S. and Police Chief S.S., Brigade Leader RAUTER. While the brutal murder of a Dutch National Socialist in the Jewish quarter is still in everyone's memory, a German patrol of the security police was now attacked in an all too criminal manner. In the night of Wednesday, February 19th to Thursday, in the Jewish emigrant quarter in Amsterdam, Van Woustraat, a patrol of the German security police was doused with a caustic and poisonous liquid at the moment they entered a Jewish premises where a secret meeting was taking place. At the same time, the Jewish criminals shot at the German police officers. Due to the immediate intervention of the police officers who came after them, it was possible to capture some of the criminals, while the majority escaped into the darkness. Thereupon, the Commissioner-General for the Security Service, the higher S,S and Chief of Police, ordered the following punitive and retaliatory measure: Four hundred full Jews between the ages of 20 and 35 are to be captured and taken to a German concentration camp. The Commissioner-General for the Security Service, the higher SS and Chief of Police, points out that this action is a retaliatory measure ordered by the German Occupational Authority. Op 19 februari 1941 gingen Duitse politieagenten naar de Joodse wijk in Amsterdam om Joodse mensen te pesten bij ijssalon Koco, en er volgde een aanval. Als berisping gaf het Duitse commando opdracht om 400 Nederlandse Joodse mannen tussen de 20 en 35 jaar oud te deporteren naar concentratiekampen. Dit maakte Nederlandse (communistische) arbeiders boos, die als gevolg daarvan in staking gingen in de grote steden van Holland. De Februaristaking begon in Amsterdam en verspreidde zich naar Zaandam, Utrecht en Hilversum. Dit was een reactie op anti-Joodse beperkingen in Nederland door de nazi's.

De poster heeft pentekeningen van een voormalige eigenaar die zeer kritisch was over de nazi-taal op deze poster.
''Bekendmaking van den Commissaris-Generaal voor het Velligheidswezen, de hoogere S.S. en Politiechef S.S., Brigadeleider RAUTER. Terwijl nog de beestachtige vermoording van een Nederlandsch Nationaal-Socialist in het jodenkwartier in aller herinnering ligt, werd nu een Duitsche patrouille der veiligheidspolitie op een maar al te misdadige wijze aangevallen. In den nacht van Woensdag den 19den Februari op Donderdag werd in het Joodsche emigranten-kwartier te Amsterdam, van Woustraat, een patrouille van de Duitsche veiligheidspolitie op het, oogenblik, waarop zij een joodsch lokaal betrad, waarin een geheime vergadering plaats vond, met een bijtende en vergiftige vloeistof overgoten. Tegelijkertijd werd door de joodsche misdadigers op de Duitsche politie beambten geschoten. Door het onmiddellijke ingrijpen van de na hen komende politiebeambten gelukte het eenigen der misdadigers gevangen te nemen, terwijl het meerendeel in de duisternis ontkwam.
Daarop heeft de Commissaris-Generaal voor het veiligheidswezen, de hoogere S.S. en Politiechef de volgende straf- en vergeldingsmaatregel gelast: Er worden vierhonderd volle joden in den leeftijd van 20 tot 35 jaar gevangen genomen en naar een Duitsch concentratiekamp overgebracht. De Commissaris-Generaal voor het veiligheids-wezen, de hoogere S.S. en Politiechef, maakt er op opmerkzaam, dat deze handeling een vergeldingsmaatregel is, die door de Duitsche Bezettingsoverheid gelast is. ledere demonstratie, van welken aard ook, en dergelijke verschijnselen worden als tegen de Duitsche Bezettings-overheid gericht opgevat en door de Duitsche Veiligheidsorganen DIRECT onderdrukt en neergeslagen, DEN HAAG, 25 Februari 1941.''
