Resistance letter by Amsterdam student groups against the law that prohibits Jews from attending the university.
''To the Students of the University of Amsterdam.
As has now been officially announced, students of Jewish blood will henceforth be prohibited from enrolling for the first time at a Dutch University and the number of our Jewish fellow students will be limited.
The Contact Committee of Amsterdam Student Associations feels compelled to express its feelings of deep concern in this way.
The Universal character of our University, where those who were capable of doing so could always study, regardless of race or religion, has been lost: it has only become accessible to a random population group.
We understand that there are many among you who want to testify openly against this measure.
However, according to the information that is available to us and that we unfortunately cannot share with you, we must strongly advise you to refrain from any protest action, in whatever form.
We urge you, in the interest of the entire Dutch people, to maintain peace and order at the University. CONTACT COMMITTEE OF AMSTERDAM STUDENT ASSOCIATIONS.''

Brief van de Amsterdamse studentenvereningingen over het uitsluiten van Joden op de universiteit.
''Aan de Studenten van de Universiteit van Amsterdam.
Zoals thans officieel bekend geworden is, zal het voortaan studenten van Joodse bloede verboden zijn zich voor de eerste maal aan een Nederlandse Univer siteit te laten inschrijven en zal het aantal van onze Joodse medestudenten beperkt worden.
De Contactcommissie van Amsterdamse Studentenverenigingen voelt zich gedrongen langs dezen weg uiting te geven aan hare gevoelens van diepe bewogenheid.
Het Universele karakter van onze Universiteit, waar steeds zij konden stu deren, die daartoe bekwaam waren, ongeacht ras of geloof, is verloren gegaan: zij is slechts toegankelijk geworden voor een willekeurige bevolkingsgroep.
Wij begrijpen, dat er velen onder U zijn, die tegen deze maatregel openlijk willen getuigen.
Evenwel moeten wij U, naar de gegevens, die ons ten dienste staan en die wij U helaas niet kunnen mededelen ten sterkste raden U van ledere protestactio, in welke vorm dan ook, te onthouden.
Wij wekken U op, in het belang van het gehele Nederlandse volk, de rust on orde aan de Universiteit to bewaren.
