Original WW2 German Photo - KIA German pilot, 2./KGzbV 1, Wassenaar, Holland, May (1940)

A series of four pictures of the Luftwaffe pilot, Heinz Hugo Schmidt. (2./KGzbV 1) On the 10th of May, he flew from Werl Airfield to Moerdijk in his Junkers Ju52. During the flight, his airplane was shot down by a Fokker TV. His airplane crashed above Wassenaar. His body was recovered by German Luftwaffe troops, and he was buried in a field grave in Wassenaar. In 1942, he was reburied in The Hague. Now he is buried in Ysselsteyn.
He was buried next to Leo Rimkus (Infanterie Regiment 47) who also died on the 10th of May 1940.
