Original WW2 Dutch Indies Photoalbum - Dutch Indies ML KNIL (1938 - 1946)
Interesting photo album of Hugo Tander, who was with the Militaire Luchtvaart of the KNIL in the Dutch Indies. In December 1938, he travelled to the Dutch Indies to start his career in the army. This album mainly has pictures of him travelling in the former Dutch colony. Some pictures show him in a military uniform and flying airplanes; some pictures were taken in the air. At the end of the album, the war starts. He goes to Australia to join the Dutch forces there. In March 1942, he is stationed with the Detachment of the ML-KNIL in Archerfield, and in May 1943, he is working with B-25 Mitchell bombers of the 18th Squadron.
After the war ended, he returned to his home address in Venlo.
Most of the pictures in the album are of him exploring the Dutch Indies; some show military themes. In the lot some letters that he sent home. Not pictured: three films that he made during his free time.

Interessant fotoalbum van Hugo Tander, die bij de Militaire Luchtvaart van het KNIL in Nederlands-Indië diende. In december 1938 reisde hij naar Nederlands-Indië om zijn militaire carrière te beginnen. Dit album bevat voornamelijk foto's van zijn reizen door de voormalige Nederlandse kolonie. Sommige foto's tonen hem in militair uniform en in vliegtuigen; andere zijn vanuit de lucht genomen. Aan het einde van het album breekt de oorlog uit. Hij vertrekt naar Australië om zich bij de Nederlandse strijdkrachten daar aan te sluiten. In maart 1942 is hij gestationeerd bij het detachement van de ML-KNIL in Archerfield en in mei 1943 werkt hij met B-25 Mitchell-bommenwerpers van het 18e Squadron.
Na het einde van de oorlog keerde hij terug naar zijn huis in Venlo.
De meeste foto's in het album tonen hem tijdens zijn verkenningstochten in Nederlands-Indië; sommige hebben een militair thema. Het album bevat ook enkele brieven die hij naar huis stuurde. Niet afgebeeld: drie films die hij in zijn vrije tijd maakte.
